What is Cross Process in Graphic Design?

What is cross processing, also known as (x-pro) back in the days were photographs are needed to be developed on dark rooms to make the picture visible. Cross processing was an effect that is accidentally discovered on developing pictures by combining different chemicals. The results vary in their contrasts and colors.

In modern day, Digital images were produced instantly, right before your fingers pressed the button. In that sense, how can we produce the same effect of cross processing as before? It is important to know how the image were produced. In digital process when you combine RGB Red, Green and Blue colors the picture become clear and visible, easy as that.

To achieve the cross processing on already processed picture, we need an editing tool. One of the most popular tools I have known was Photoshop, there could be other tools for this, but our tutorial is for Photoshop. Let’s have a look on how we cross process in Photoshop using layers. This can also be done using channels tab but if you wish to do it in multiple images, it is recommended to do it in layers.

3 Steps to do the cross process in Adobe Photoshop

Brightness & Contrast Fill, Blending Option

1.       Create a new fill > Brightness/Contrast > Blending Option > Tick only the red box in Advance blending section and channel.

To organize the layer, you may change the layer color in according to its color channel if its red channel, change the color layer to red.

Tip: you can just double-click the layer to open the Blending Option window

Legacy Option

2.       Still on the selected fill layer see the properties panel and tick the Legacy box to drastically change the colors

Legacy box – when unchecked, legacy option preserves the tone of image.

Duplicate Fill Layers – Red, Blue, Green

3.       By dragging or right-click Duplicate Layer, create 2 more fill layers for Blue and Green Channels.

Finally, to achieve the color temperature you need to balance each fill layers.

keep in mind that depending on the percentage of the highlights and shadows of the image you’re working on, you may want to base the fill properties adjustment to the biggest percentage.

From the sample image I have you can see from the overall that the picture has a lot of dark areas which means If I want to make the picture cooler, I first pick the cooler fill layer Blue and Green and slide it to the left, so it affects more areas from the picture.

On how to control each fill layers, when the slider goes right where you are looking it determines the light part of the image in other direction when you slide left the fill will affect the dark parts of the image. You can play with the slider to achieve more creative results.

Cross Processing usage on graphic design

1. gives a vintage retro or vintage effect due to low contrast and specific color imbalance
2. gives specific color temperature - warm or cool color effect to adapt the image to preferred design style

These days, food businesses has captured what people will like. May it be Restaurants, café, food stall, etc. If I am not mistaken, what we prioritize nowadays aside from food are the Instagram-friendly side of the location. Am I right?

What about when you want to go in a place where in you do not know that much in it? Of course you will want a good place and a good food to eat. Let me share with you our dining experience in Calle Arco of Pagsanjan Laguna. My review will include the positive and fail side of the place.

Calle Arco Restaurant is one of the fine dining restaurants in Pagsanjan Laguna. My tito booked this restaurant for his birthday celebration for 22 persons last April 15, 2018 (Sunday) at 12nn.

We arrived there late – maybe past 12nn. The place has been designed like an old house; vintage look that has a chandelier in the dining area. We liked the ambiance as we feel as if we are way back the old old times. (see photo below)

PS: I did not capture the whole place because back then, my mind is all in the food and our surprise.

As we prepare some balloons for my tito (a surprise), one of the staff told as a couple of times that they needed to serve our food because we booked 12nn and it’s already past 12. They are very polite and talk to their customer with respect. It is our fault being late to the Restaurant but they still humbly told us that they can re-heat the food if it is no hot at all.

 Blowing of the cake is supposed to be a surprise. We ordered a special cupcakes from the restaurant and also gave them the cake we bought from Red Ribbon. We ask them if they have this “birthday song/presentation” if one of their customer’s birthday and they said yes. To our surprise as we ask them to serve the cake – the background music is a love song, as they approached us, they seem to be shy to sing the “happy birthday” and what they brought us is the cupcake we ordered with a candle but the cake we bought is nowhere to be found haha. Me and my cousin laughed and wondering “where is the cake?”. We just let it go and told them to serve the cake. They lit the candle and approached us again

without singing at all haha. We just laugh and started singing the Happy Birthday on our own.

Rating on CALLE ARCO RESTAURANT (1-10, as 10 is the highest):

1. Location – 9 (There are no parking space; Easy to be found – there are jeepneys passing by.)
2. Ambiance – 8 (Thumbs up for the vintage look; The air condition is not that cold, especially when you’re there at noon time; a little crowded)
3. Food – 10 (If you love “lutong bahay”dishes, go here. Very satisfied with the food, hands down)
4. Staff – 10 (Even though they failed us for the blowing of the cake, they deserve a rate of 10 for their attitude towards their customer and their work)
5. Price – (I did not look on our bill. It was our tito who paid it hehe. But regardless of the price, the food is worth it)

Suggestions:

1. You might want to download/save a happy birthday song for a birthday celebrant in your resto.
2. Clear out things with your customer when they ask you something (like the serving of the cake – it was supposed to be served with the cupcake as well)
3. Parking space I think? So it will not bother the passer by.

Even though we had a fail moment, the important part is we left the restaurant with such a memorable birthday celebration of our tito -- having our smile beyond our ears.

But the thing is, this coin saver was presented in a timely manner when Peso sense uploaded its ipon challenge photo on how you can save money. it is encouraging to comply with it because the photo was highly organized and indicates how much you will save after the year ends. It is truly the right place at the right time since January is the first month of the year.

Almost I myself wanting to save money since New Year means new or fresh, It’s a new me! Oh come on’ let’s forget how we spend spree last year. Let’s start the year doing the right thing for our future.

MAYBELLINE’S BABY SKIN PORE ERASER – BABY SMOOTH SKIN (A Review)

Before the year 2017 ended, I have received one of my wishlist – a PRIMER!! Women who loves to wear make up knows that it is one of the the most important thing you must put on your face before putting any make up. I usually skip this method until I have watched several Youtube tutorial and they’ve poured me with “PRIMER IS A MUST”. I cried. LOL. I have never tried any primer bafore, so this is my first time. My sister gave me a Maybelline’s baby skin pore eraser. She bought it at watsons with me at a price of Php 250.00 for a 22ml. (Why are primers so pricey? Huhu)

PACKAGING:

   I like how cute it looks with its bluish/greenish tube conatainer. In it’s packaging, it includes instruction and they claimed that its secret iingredient is the cherry extracts.

• SKIN IS SHIN FREE AND EVEN ALL DAY

What’s Inside?

As you can see in the photo below, it has this thick and translucent gel consistency. Smells like a baby powder and when I started putting it in my skin, it felt very smooth same as putting some oil in your skin but it’s NOT oily and sticky. It has a powdery feeling while I’m gently rubbing it in my skin. I’m amazed.

Note: As they said with primers – a little goes a long way. And this primer does.

The TRIAL

To start of, here is my face without putting

anything yet. I have a combination skin and

discoloration plus an acne scars if you look closer.

My face becomes oily easily and I’m hoping the

primer would help with this matter.

I also sweat easily, so let’s see…

Photo below is after I have put on foundation. I used my Loreal Infallible matte foundation (wrong foundation, I should’ve not used a matte finish. For a dry and combination skin – it created lumps hehe) It also looks whiter because I became darker when we were on a vacation lol.

This is my make-up look during new year’s eve. I’m done putting make up by 9:30 pm.

If you look closer, you can see my face started to become oily on the forehead, a little on the nose and

on the cheeks. I think it’s been only 30 minutes when we took the photo.

Update:

Photo below is after we took photoshoot. It’s just an hour past. It’s 10:30 in the evening. We’re just inside our house with an airconditioned room.

I already looked haggard and looks like my sweat moved my foundation on my forehead (note that I didn’t swipe off any sweat during that time). I also started to look pale, maybe because my foundation is not my skin tone anymore.

Verdict:

Based on my first experience with the Maybelline’s Baby Skin Pore Eraser, I did love how it felt on my skin when you gently rub it on your face because it did have a smooth finish. I didn’t see much effects on my make-up staying longer because like my usual make ups, in just an hour, I looked like I have done an exercise haha!

I am not closing my judgment with the Maybelline’s baby skin for this is just the first trial. I have to test it for several times because this also happens to me first time trying their fit me concealer (but I LOVE THEM NOW) or maybe I just have put up the wrong foundation for my type of skin. I should try a dewy finish foundation next time.

4 important points when working with box primitive modeling in 3ds Max

4 Points to remember when modeling box primitives.

1. If you’re using a reference photo or you set-up a virtual studio for finer modeling, do not fill in the entire part of the image (for example the body) with one whole box then refine it later by adjusting its vertices,  it is highly advisable to constructively complete the image bits by bits(for example sleeve first then extend or extrude it to complete the body)

 2. After creating a simple box shape, convert it to editable poly so you can further modify the simple box shape, complete the totality of the image with extrude, bevel, and so on, depending on your current selection at the command panel -> Modify tab, you can also modify the object shape by just using simple tools like the move, rotate and scale tools at the main toolbar.

3. Use Edges to fine tune a shape and to give volumes, at the Command Panel -> Selection -> Edge, Edge is very useful when adding volumes, to make curvy like shapes, just by selecting a single edge then clicking the ring button at a selection rollouts combined with Connect button under Edit Edges rollout it will add an intersecting line at the selected edges then you can scale it to give smooth curve look.

4.Lastly add modifiers (for example if you want to bent the whole image) use Bend modifier,

When working with objects that should be in pair (for example hands or pair of boots), just use the mirror tool in the main toolbar to clone it in instance or copy options.

It will never be the same again once you’ve decided to own a pet, just like having your own child, having a pet demands great responsibility, that you need to take care of. It’s like becoming a real parent. Little by little you will notice that your old routine will change. When it comes to their diet, we become very careful when choosing the right food for different pets and breeds. We become a researcher, on what will be the right ones and the bad ones. We make sure they will gain the right nutrition they need as they grow.

 When you have a pet especially dogs, you become hesitant when leaving home.

When you expect that everyone in the house will leave, and your pet will be all alone, you become worried even though you leave them with food reserves.  There will be a bunch of what ifs that will make you stay.

 You don’t want your pet to be contained in cages.

You’re always putting yourself in their shoe. What if you will be locked in a cell, your freedom will be removed and you don’t want them to experience that. Up until now our dog is inside the house freely moving.

You talk and respond to them like ordinary human.

When you feel guilty not giving them what they wanted. Like salty foods, or not walking them outside. You feel and say sorry to them and even hug them when you did prohibit them.

Sweet and Delightful Iced Drinks Served at Home in an Instant!



When it comes to choosing what flavor do you want to mix with frappes, Chocolate is always present from the menu! its the most best selling, addicting and most of all, it is always available in every local grocery stores. Based from your own preference, you can pick whether you want it to be cold or you like it to be hot. But focusing on the most important part, personal preference of taste or our own taste preferences vary depending on the degree of flavor what we like. These personal preferences, made us to become "choosy" or detectives, investigating whether that coffee shop or cafe's provide the flavor what we like. Then if that so, good news! Nowadays you can do just anything with just a few clicks on the internet and simply walking at a nearby grocery or convenient stores, for sure they offer variety of ready made food products and it is easy to make one. Just like we did with this sweet chocolate iced frappe and coffee.

Who could someone not resist the aroma and taste of coffee, and the sweet taste of chocolate drinks --- may it be hot, frappe, or iced. In Metro manila (Philippines), Coffee shops are now the trend to have a chitchat, barkada reunions, a place to review or study, or to have a work meeting, etc for young and adults.

With these “drink trends” I thought that I can share with you one of my trip on how to enjoy coffee shop drinks at home that can be shared to everyone.

Before we start, what I did was an iced chocolate and coffee drink since some of us do not want the texture of shaved ice.

What you need:

•        For iced coffee drink – you can use 3-in-1 coffee mix or manually blend the flavor you want in your coffee. For me, I think brewed coffee will be the best choice! But since it’s not available I chose to use what is available in the fridge because it tend to taste creamier and have stronger flavor than the instant 3-in-1 – Nestle Coffee Mate, Maxwell House Black Coffee (they taste better than with a mix of nestle black coffee and nestle coffee mate hehe).
•          For Iced Chocolate drink – I used Goya Everyday chocolate mix drink and the Swiss Miss dark chocolate flavor.
•          Sugar to taste
•          Hot and cold water
•          Ice
•          Whip Cream (I like the taste and the creaminess of this Hopla whip cream although it’s consistency as a whip cream tends to melt in seconds.
•          Chocolate syrup and chocolate/coffee sprinkles (Optional) 

What to do:

1. Put the coffee or chocolate mixture in a cup.
2. Pour ¼ cup of hot water in the mixture just to dissolve it. Stir well.
3.  Pour a cold water. Stir. (Remember not to fill up the whole cup because we’ll be putting ice and whip cream.)
4. What I did next is: I put the coffee mix in a water bottle together with some ice then shake it (like what I am seeing when I buy Milk teas). You may also skip this step and just put the ice on the cup.
5.  Last is, put a whip cream on the top of your favorite drink for a creamier and for a coffee shop 
6. Putting some chocolate or coffee sprinkles and chocolate syrup is optional. 

Aaaand, you’re done! J

Tip: you can also add up chocolate syrup below and on the side of the cup for an artsy look and chocolatier taste (Of course, better with a transparent cup or glass).

With this recipe, you can now enjoy your favorite drink not going on a café. Especially when raining, too hot outside or just too crowded and noisy going in a café. You can have your own version of Frappe too, anytime of the day.

That’s it! You can now sit and relax and enjoy your iced drink while watching movie, while reviewing in your room, or while having some snack time with the whole family.

Halloween Costume Ideas 2017

Last weekend we attended a Halloween Party for kids at Sorrel Residences, Sta. Mesa, it is celebrated annually before October ends and before November begins, the criteria is simple just wear your best Halloween costume and you can be part of their trick or treat portion, and win lots of prizes.

Here are the best costumes they worn during the celebration, it’s better to understand with story. Enjoy!

Just after we’ve arrived at Sorrel, the celebration is in its halfway; we found it in dance program already.

Here, is the setting of the Halloween Event, the background design is quite simple, some elements of Halloween: Monsters, Skeletons and Skulls, Bats, also they decorate it with Balloons and Fabrics which can be distinguished by known Halloween Colors which are usually Black, Violet, Vibrant Orange and Green. These are the main hues of Halloween.

In the first Photo the kids were getting ready to dance, in the stage you can see different Halloween Costumes or Outfit, you find,
